Dear Friends and Family
As I was sitting down to write our little Christmas newsletter, I debated on how I could best describe our family: and so I am pleased to present you with a synopsis of the Olsen Family’s super powers.
Dan Olsen, Captain Sneeze
I am sure that you have all heard someone sneeze very loudly, well; Dan can beat any of them. One day while sitting at work (at his job that he absolutely loves) Dan had one of his magnificent sneezes and pop gave himself a hernia and appendicitis. (Though Dan informs me that it didn’t technically give him those things, that’s just when he really started to feel the abdominal pain.) Now some of you might not think that a hernia and appendicitis are so super but that is because you don’t understand that Dan did this two weeks before we were supposed to move. So he effectively got himself out of helping with the move and pretty much every thing all summer. So if you ever need Dan’s help, make sure he doesn’t sneeze.
Emily Olsen, The Brave
What is it that makes Emily Olsen brave? Grocery shopping, I almost always go shopping with all three of my boys. This is very brave. But because I let the boys pick out the groceries and throw them into the cart it ends up that our smashed bread has to be a little braver than me.
Jake Olsen, Bug Zapper
I am going to explain Jake’s super power to you in his own words, “Mom, bugs are afraid of me because I eat them.” Now this super power is pretty obvious so I won’t elaborate, but if any of you Californians are tired of paying the bug exterminator we would be happy to stay with you for a few days.
Andrew Olsen, Master Mimicker
Be careful what you say around Andrew because chances are, it will be repeated. His most favorite person to imitate is Diego (a cartoon animal rescuer). He didn’t take off his Diego costume for a week after Halloween and he insisted for a while that we call him Diego, but luckily he is back to being Andrew again.
Isaac Olsen, Mellow Yellow
Perhaps at first this doesn’t really seem like a super power, but come and visit our crazy house and you will see that this is really quite a feat. With two psycho parents and two active older brothers our quiet easy going Isaac is really quite a miracle.
We Hope You are all having a very Merry Christmas!
Love,
The Olsen Fantastic Five

I love it! I want to see some pictures! You guys moved away when Jake was still so tiny. Tiny as in around 2 years old, but still! Anyway, it’s so good to hear from you guys, I want to see some pictures and post what you guys have been up to! Tell Dan way to go with getting out of the move, Matthew hates moving, I’ll give him your tip next time!
I love the letter. Very cute! We got the picture in the mail too and your boys are SO ADORABLE! We’ll hopefully see you while we’re in Utah for Christmas!
We all knew you had secret super powers! Have a very Merry Christmas in sunny California. We’ll miss you and thanks for the cute Christmas Tree soap dispenser. It is fabulous. After reading your newsletter, I’ll be expecting something exciting to be happening to us after we use it.
